The Summer Stroll for Epilepsy™ is the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan’s signature fundraising event. It offers everyone in the community an opportunity to participate in: commitment towards the fight against epilepsy, inspiring people to become involved in spreading epilepsy awareness and empowering people with epilepsy to live productive lives. Individuals, Teams (two or more people walking together), and Corporate Teams will enjoy a morning stroll in the location of their choice. The Summer Stroll for Epilepsy™ promises to be an inspirational morning that allows the spread of epilepsy awareness in the community and the raising of vital funds needed to provide the necessary programs and services offered by the Foundation.

Food, fun and more are in store for the Elwyn Day Festival & 5K, which will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012 on the Elwyn Media campus.
The Elwyn Day Festival, previously held in the fall, has combined with the annual Elwyn 5K to create an entire day dedicated to celebrating the community and the individuals Elwyn serves. Presenting a “Mummers” theme, the festivities kick off with the 5K Run/Walk registration at 8 a.m.
Now in its sixth year, Elwyn is partnering with the Delco Road Runners Club to host the 5K Run/Walk on Elwyn’s historic 400-acre campus. Serving as this year’s 5K Honorary Chairman is Jay Culotta, Treasurer of Wawa, Inc. The course covers macadam roads, grassy trails and rolling hills. Registration includes a race T-shirt and refreshments. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place male and female finishers, as well as, the top male and female in the Masters Division. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in 10-year age brackets from 19-and-under through 60-and-over.

The Festival, a longstanding tradition at Elwyn, is a day full of activities and entertainment for adults and children with disabilities, their families, supporters, friends, Elwyn staff and the local community. Serving as the Grand Marshal is Carl Cherkin, Vice President of Business Relations for the Philadelphia Union. Along with the Philadelphia Union and Wawa, Philadelphia Independence Blue Cross and Sun East Federal Credit Union are title sponsors for the event.
The Festival features a variety of activities and entertainment for all ages, including soccer games provided by The Philadelphia Union, the Philadelphia Zoo on Wheels, the Development Center’s Family Fun Day, a fresh produce sale by Greener Partners, live music by actor Chris Burke, from the ABC hit television show “Life Goes On”, and his band, and much more.
The Elwyn Day Festival & 5K are made possible by Elwyn staff, Board members, families and community volunteers.

Whether you are already a committed dancer, thinking about taking up dance or just love to watch, this event will begin with showcase performances by adults & children taking dance classes at the Landmark, followed by the new show from professional company StopGap. Called Spun Productions, it is a vibrant and funny piece of dance street theatre that explores the chaotic and bizzare world of an imaginary audience-voting TV show. A Cultural Olympiad commission. A free after-show workshop led by StopGap is open to all, but places must be pre-booked & are limited.

Residents from the Lake City community and the surrounding areas are invited to spend the day with Haven Hospice and participate in the 3rd annual fitness, art and music festival (F.A.M. Fest)! Activities include a 5K fun run, booths displaying art to purchase from local artists and the surrounding area, food and drink by local vendors for purchase, and live music played throughout the day in Downtown Lake City. Visitors will also have the opportunity to increase their knowledge of Haven Hospice.
